Our After-School Program Themes
NASA Academy of Future Space Explorers
NASA and Mad Science collaborate to educate the next generation! Children go on a voyage of discovery with unique hands-on activities, and amazing demonstrations that explore the sun and stars, space technology, rocket science, the atmosphere, planets and moons, and more!
Using LEGO® bricks, kids build a different engineering-themed project in each class. They explore different engineering fields including mechanical, structural, aerospace, nautical, and bioengineering. They use critical thinking and creative problem-solving to test and improve their creations.
Science of Machines
Probe the radical world of machines and their evolution from simple machines to the complex world of robotics. Develop a foundation of understanding for the different sciences that support our mechanical friends including circuit electricity, physics and automation. Be a machine maniac!
Have you ever wondered why glow-in-the-dark glows, how to freeze water in seconds, or who put the pop in soda pop? Step into the Mad Science Laboratory to find the answers! Grab a bubbling potion and be amazed as your Mad Scientist unveils the delightful world of Morphin’ Molecules.
This 6-week series features classes designed to spark imaginative learning about our very own planet Earth! Dig deep underground to unearth molten lava, learn what a variety of animals need to do to survive, dive into the deep-water abyss and learn the lingo of weather--all in the comfort of our Mad Science Classroom!
What is your refund policy?
Our guarantee is simple. If your child attends the first session of the course and it does not meet their expectations, we will refund you in full. You MUST call us before the second class meeting to qualify. Cancelling your registration prior to the start of the program will result in a $10.00 processing fee.+
When do I pay?
Payment is required at the time of registration. Mad Science accepts checks or credit cards (over the phone, on the registration form or through our on-line registration system). If you would like to pay at a later date, please call our office to learn more about our payment plans.+
What is your class cancellation policy?
We will follow the inclement weather and school closure policy of the school district in which we are instructing. We will attempt to schedule a make-up class, provided the cancelled class takes place at least one week before the start of the next program.+
What is your student behavior policy?
We strive at all times to provide a safe learning environment for everyone. To that end, Mad Science has a zero-tolerance policy regarding violence of any kind. Children exhibiting violent behavior will be asked not to return to Mad Science class. There will be no refund.+
Will my child be supervised during the time between when school lets out, and Mad Science class begins?
Yes! This is a perfect time for students to go to the bathroom, and/or eat a non-peanut snack brought from home.+
How often do Mad Science after school programs meet?
Unless otherwise noted, Mad Science programs meet once a week, on the same day of the week, for the duration of the program.+
What do the options for dismissal actually mean?
"Picked up by" please list all persons authorized for pick up. The authorized person(s) will be required to sign your student out after every class, "Daycare" our instructor will escort your student to the regular aftercare program at your child's school. "Walk" our instructor will release your child after class without a signature.+
What do I do if my dismissal plans change?
There are three options for notifying us of a change in the dismissal plan for your student. You can send a signed note with your student for the instructor, call the Mad Science office at (503) 230-8040, or email Mad Science at firstname.lastname@example.org.+
